FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT LEVY

IS YOUR COMPANY REQUIRED TO PAY THE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT LEVY (SDL)?

Your organisation is required to register for and pay the SDL if your total annual payroll exceeds R500,000. While this is a legal requirement, we view it as the first step in your journey toward excellence. Even if you are exempt, structured skills development training remains the most effective way to empower your team.

HOW IS YOUR SKILLS DEVELOPMENT LEVY CALCULATED?

The levy is calculated as 1% of your total monthly remunerable amount. We help you ensure this calculation is accurate so that your contributions are correctly allocated to the relevant SETA, securing your path to future grant claims.

SDL = Total Monthly Remuneration X 0.01

HOW CAN YOU CLAIM BACK YOUR EMPLOYER SDL CONTRIBUTION?
