HOW DOES SKILLS DEVELOPMENT IMPACT YOUR B-BBEE SCORECARD?

Skills development is a priority element under the B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice. It generally accounts for 20 points on the generic scorecard. Because it is a priority element, failing to achieve the sub-minimum 40% target will result in your overall B-BBEE level being dropped by one full status level. By partnering with Training Force, you ensure that you not only meet this sub-minimum but also excel in this category to protect and improve your rating.

HOW ARE B-BBEE POINTS EARNED AND HOW CAN YOU INCREASE THEM?

B-BBEE points in the skills development category are earned through targeted spend and the successful implementation of learning programmes. You can increase your points by focusing on:

  • Targeted spend on black employees, both employed and unemployed: Points are awarded based on the percentage of your leviable amount spent on training black employees, aligned with national or provincial economically active population (EAP) targets.
  • Learnerships and internships: You earn significant points for the number of black people participating in category B, C, or D learning programmes (learnerships, apprenticeships, and internships).
  • Absorption points: One of the most effective ways to increase your score is through “absorption”- offering permanent employment to unemployed learners at the end of their programme.

Training for disabled employees: Spending on training for black employees with disabilities provides a high point-to-spend ratio.
